Aqua Strings
A rare occurrence this weekend; I had almost an entire day to myself on Sunday! My husband had an event and took our daughter, and my son had to work. After I dropped my son off at the Zoo where he volunteers, I stopped off at the farmer's market for a short while, then headed home and began sewing. Taking a few short breaks to eat, watch a little Clean House and do some chores, I was able to finish piecing this quilt and also the back.

Deciding on the finished size was a little agonizing. I decided on 9 blocks by 6 with finished dimensions of 92" x 62" (9 by 6). It is destined for my daughter's bunk bed (twin). In hindsight, I think 8x6 or even 8x7 would have been a better size but there's no going back! It's a little long but still works as a bed quilt.
I don't know about anyone else, but at some point in my quilting projects, I begin to loathe it and just want it *done*. I was definitely nearing that point making sure I had all those gazillion seams pressed in opposite directions. Ugh! I was so glad to push through and get this one together.
A sneak peek of the pieced back.

I hope everyone is spending time visiting quilting blogs as part of the online Bloggers' Quilt Festival. My contribution is #286. I haven't had much time to browse yet, but I'm enjoying the diversity of quilts I've seen so far.

Gorgeous quilt! I love the aqua and I think your daughter is a lucky girl!
I know what you mean about wanting to be done with a quilt. I've still got around 30 blocks to make for mine and I'm feeling like it needs to be completed soon!
LOL -- I've been scrolling through blogs while I kill time before a meeting, and I was getting really tired and was leaning on the desk (kind of slumped over). When I saw your quilt I actually sat back up in my chair. VERY pretty and a very effective use of solids with prints!
Oh my, how beautiful! I love the colors! It's just so happy! Glad the day went well for you! We all need days like that!
Terrific string quilt! I love the colors and that you used wide strings in coordinated colors! I'm fascinated by the illusion of roundness!
BTW, I just posted yesterday my finally finished full size string quilt.
This quilt is so pretty! I love the aqua and the optical illusion that the string pattern is making. I get the same way about finishing up quilts when I'm near the end.
Awesome aqua colors and lovely fabrics! Your daughter is gonna love it! (And it matches her Ninja Bean :D) You are one super speedy quilter!
