In between projects

I promised to visit Peapod fabrics to show the shop owner Elizabeth's tunic.  Our visit is featured on Peapod Fabrics' blog here.  Although it's tiny, this shop is the most charming fabric store imaginable.  I highly recommend a visit if you are ever in the area.

Inspired by my success with the tunic, I ordered the Music Class Blouse + Skirt pattern and the Ice Cream Social dress pattern from Oliver + S.  Both patterns are currently on sale for 20% off at the website.

While I wait for my patterns to arrive, I've been taking a little breather from my various WIPs,  with the exception of doing a little stitching in front of the TV at night on my never ending hexagon quilt.

I've been sewing

I made my daughter a tunic.

We were browsing in Peapod Fabrics last Saturday -- I was deep in the precut quilting fabrics bins while my daughter picked out the mini dress Amy Bulter pattern and fabric!!  I have to admit that I haven't sewn a garment in some 30 old years.  **gulp***  Somehow, I remembered what to do.

Summertime in the City

Crissy Field, San Francisco
(my backyard)

What has everyone been up to this summer?

I have to admit that I haven't sewn a stitch or handled any fabric for that matter in a week and it feels strange.  We took a mini-vacation over the holiday weekend in Carmel and Santa Cruz and aside for the usual grind of commute, work, child wrangling and managing a household, we've been slowly getting my daughter's new bedroom in order.  I've also been reading a very intense and hefty new Vampire novel called The Passage by Justin Cronin.  I'm at around page 600 and still have a ways to go.
